The american dream for Christmas has to be owning a fireplace. Whether it's gas or log, something is so dreamy and cozy during the holiday season to have the romantic glow of a fire. You could also splurge on these alpine trees from pottery barn. I even found a more affordable look-a-like at hobby lobby. The base is not as cute but you could use a skirt or basket to class it up.

If your as obsessed with plaid right now as I am, you could also add some cute plaid throw pillows by the base of the fireplace. AND if you don't have room to add the pillows you could throw in a plaid stocking with the sweater stockings like poshpennies design below.
